Privacy policy
Last updated 22 October 2026
This policy explains what Peasants Dreaming LLC ("we") collects when you play GridWeb, why, and what control you have over it. GridWeb is a game played in real places with real people, so it needs some sensitive data to work. We collect only what the game needs, we never sell it, and we do not show ads.
Item.What we collect
- Account. When you sign in with Google we receive your email address and a sign-in identifier. You choose a codename; that is the only name other players see.
- Location, only while you play. GridWeb uses your device's precise location while the app is open to latch Street Relays and map your sector. It never tracks you in the background. Recent positions are kept for 7 days to run the game and detect cheating, then deleted.
- Face scan. To join a match you enrol a short face scan, and the app may refresh your reference photo when you tag another player. We turn the scan into an encrypted face template so the game can confirm a tag hit the right person. See "Face data" below.
- Camera clips. When you tag a player, the short photo or clip of the moment is stored so both players can review it.
- Bluetooth. For a few seconds during close-range moves, your phone exchanges a one-time code with a nearby player's phone to prove you were really close. No contacts, device lists or Bluetooth history are collected.
- Gameplay. Matches, tags, scores, badges, Safe Zones you set, players you block and reports you make.
- Device. Your platform, app version and a push-notification token so we can send match alerts.
Item.Face data
We ask for your explicit consent before your first face scan. Your face template is encrypted with keys held in Google Cloud Key Management, is used only to verify tags inside GridWeb, and is never sold, shared for advertising, or used to identify you outside the game. It is deleted when you delete your account, or after 12 months without play, whichever comes first.
Item.What other players see
Other players in your match can see your codename, badges, an approximate picture of where you have recently played within the match area, and your reference photo once they are assigned to find you. They never see your email or your exact live position outside the rules of a match. Positions inside your Safe Zones are never shown.
Item.How we use it
To run matches, verify tags, prevent cheating and abuse, keep players safe, answer support requests, and improve the game using aggregated, short-lived telemetry. We rely on your consent for location, camera, Bluetooth and face data (you can withdraw it in your phone's settings or by deleting your account) and on our legitimate interest in running a fair, safe game for the rest.
Item.Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal data. We use a small number of service providers who process it on our behalf: Google Cloud and Firebase (hosting, database, sign-in and storage, in the United States), and Apple and Google for push notifications and in-app purchases. We may disclose data if the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
Item.How long we keep it
Location history: 7 days. Server telemetry: 7 to 30 days. Account, gameplay records and clips: while your account is open. Everything is deleted within 30 days of an account deletion, except as described on the account deletion page.
Item.Your choices and rights
You can turn off location, camera or Bluetooth at any time in your phone's settings (parts of the game will stop working), block players, and delete your account. Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or to object to how we use it. Email us to make any request; we will answer within 30 days.
Item.Children
GridWeb is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has signed up, tell us and we will delete the account.
Item.Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, face templates are additionally encrypted with dedicated keys, and access within the studio is limited to people who need it.
Item.Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Questions go to ed@peasantsdreaming.com.
